5 Reasons Not To Be Scared of AI

In this article, we will have a look at top 5 Reasons Not To Be Scared of AI (Artificial Intelligence).

Artificial intelligence is on the rise. Machines and computers that previously performed perfunctory, repetitive tasks, can now carry out actions that once required human intelligence. We see it almost constantly in everyday life, from the prevalence of AI assistants like ChatGPT to movie posters and trailers that have been enhanced and created through artificial intelligence.

It’s clear that AI is getting more advanced and is certainly here to stay. But should we be scared?

For the past few decades, artificial intelligence has been a source of worry. There has been much concern that it will steal people’s jobs, lead to cyberattacks, or even outsmart humans and take over the world. But are these fears warranted?

There is so much negativity around the idea of artificial intelligence, but it has the potential to do so much good as well. The following article takes a look at some of the benefits of AI, as well as the many very good reasons we should embrace it, not fear it.

The Future is Always Scary

At every point in recorded history, people have been scared about the future. In the early twentieth century, society was terrified that computers would lead to mass unemployment, causing widespread poverty and despondency. Nuclear power has been causing worries for decades, despite being one of the cleanest and safest energy sources, and may be the answer to the global warming crisis. Even earlier in history, technology such as trains, elevators and even telephones caused a great deal of anxiety. And back in Ancient Greece, the philosopher Plato worried that the act of writing might have a negative effect on people’s memories.

With all this in mind, do we have a good reason to be scared of the rise of artificial intelligence? The future of AI may be uncertain and scary, but that’s the nature of living in a constantly changing world. The aforementioned technologies have all done far more good than bad, so we just need to bide our time and see how AI will make the world a better place. We’ll eventually see, just like our ancestors did, that all our fears were all unfounded.

AI Creates Jobs

Many decades ago, people worried that computers would lead to unemployment, taking jobs away from typists, data entry clerks, and more. But in 2025, the computer industry is one of the biggest sources of employment worldwide, creating far more jobs than it has made redundant. Artificial intelligence will no doubt do the same. Although there are some jobs that can be automated. It will also lead to significantly more. You can apply for all kinds of AI-related roles in data science, machine learning, or business intelligence. You can work for an AI automation agency or even sit on an artificial intelligence ethics committee. The opportunities are endless.

Not to mention the fact that there are countless jobs that can never be replaced. People in hospitality, the arts, outdoor pursuits, tourism, and countless other sectors all work in areas that require a human touch and are therefore at no risk whatsoever.

It Reduces Human Errors

When it comes to certain tasks, a computer is simply better. Humans are flawed, and do produce errors on a regular basis. But artificial intelligence is designed to perform regular, repetitive tasks, and to do so with complete accuracy. Depending on the application, this can greatly improve operational efficiencies and streamline internal processes. In the real world, this could be utilised to great effect in scheduling trains and planes, diagnosing diseases, and even detecting crime.

It is Available 24/7

One of the downsides of employing humans for a task is that we need to sleep. Not only that, we need to go to the toilet, eat, socialise, and take regular breaks for countless other things throughout the day. A computer, on the other hand, is available constantly, and this is clearly a lot better for productivity. AI chatbots, for example, are a great alternative to human customer service representatives, as they can be available all through the night in whatever time zone you may be in. This enables companies to provide an even better customer experience, and the technology is only becoming more and more lifelike.

It’s Not Science Fiction

We’ve all seen films like Terminator and The Matrix, in which technology becomes sentient and takes over the world. But this is reality, and artificial intelligence is controlled and regulated. AI operates within a narrow framework, and although it is incredibly powerful, it is far from achieving anything even close to comprehension or sentience. The science fiction worst case scenario is not going to happen anytime soon.
