In this article we will have a look at What Do Guests Want From a Hotel?
The hotel industry is thriving, but that doesn’t mean that your hotel will automatically be full of bookings. With competition for guests stronger than ever, it’s only the hotels that offer a great experience — and thus receive plenty of positive reviews — that can expect to get ahead.
One of the best strategies to ensure your visitors have a good experience at your hotel is to simply give them what they want and expect. While it’s possible to go above and beyond to give your hotel all the bells and whistles that give a hotel the wow factor, it’s more important to focus on ensuring that the essentials have been taken care of to a high standard.
In this post, we’ll run through a few of the key things that hotel guests want. Make sure your hotel has the following, and you should find that success is much easier to come by.
Smooth Booking Processes
It can take a while for a guest to settle on which hotel they will book. When they do, they hope that the booking experience is as smooth as possible. Doing this involves proactively thinking of the things that could disrupt their booking journey, and taking steps to minimize/reduce them. For instance, on your website, does the booking process involve more steps than is necessary? Are there hidden fees tucked in somewhere that might leave a bad taste in your potential guest’s mouth? It’s also recommended to utilize multiple booking channels; some guests will book through your website, but some, whether you like it or not, will be committing to making reservations on booking websites (such as Booking.com and Expedia).
Fast Check-In
Your staff might be feeling fresh and full of energy. Your newly-arrived guests, who have just completed a transatlantic flight? Not so much. A fast check-in is one of those subtle yet powerful things that can have a big impact on your guests’ experience of your hotel. No one wants to jump through more hoops than necessary. As well as training your staff to make the check-in process quick, you can also consider adding self-check-in desks or allowing guests to check in via their smartphones.
A Comfortable Room
A hotel could have five-star amenities, but if it doesn’t offer a good night’s sleep, then it’s unlikely to receive too many glowing reviews. More than anything, guests want to sleep through the night. Anything that improves your guests’ capacity to sleep, such as adding extra comfortable hotel pillowcases, mattresses, and duvets, will have an impact. It’s also recommended to take on board any sleeping-related feedback your guests leave. A hotel room might appear great for sleeping, but if it’s noisy at night, then you’ll need to take action.
Modern Touches
Finally, unless your hotel’s appeal is based on its old-school charm, then it’s best to have some modern touches. Guests love it when a hotel has superfast wifi, USB charging ports, and places to work, and more than anything, it shows that you’ve taken the time to really consider their experience.
